Mollywood hot actresses invade South Screen


Gone are the days when Punjabi girls ruled the South Indian screen! The thrones have been usurped by a bunch of ambitious Malayali girls...Educated and uninhibited, talented and beautiful!

Here is a pictorial tribute to the Kerala girls who have invaded the South Indian celluloid!


Bhavana

Bhavana Balachandran, hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, debuted in Tamil with Mysskin's 'Chithiram Pesuthedi' (2005). Before that, she was part of more than a dozen hits in Malayalam, starting with her debut film, 'Nammal'. The exuberant actress scored a superhit last year with 'Jayam Kondaan'.


Nayantara

One of the highest paid actresses in south India, Nayantara aka Diana Kurien began her career with 'Manassinakkare' (2003) in Malayalam. She debuted in Kollywood with the Sarathkumar starrer, 'Ayya'.

Rajnikanth's 'Chandramukhi' catapulted her to the big league. There has been no looking back, post-'Chandramukhi'.

Meera Nandan

Meera Nandan is an upcoming malayalam actress and a television anchor. She started her career through the popular reality show, ISS on Asianet. She acted in malayalam film "Mulla" in 2008. Meera Nandan the girl from Kerala acted in Malayalam films like Mulla, Puthiya mukham and Banaras.

After Bhavana, Kavya and Meera, here comes another Meera from Mollywood to join the race to rule the Kollywood tinseldom. Let's hope that this 17-year old Kerala girl makes it big in Kollywood, much like her predecessors.

Meera Jasmine

Meera Jasmine, national award winner made her movie debut with 'Soothradharan', directed by Lohithadas, in 2001.

She hit Kollywood with 'Run' and has, since then, starred in many hits such as 'Ayudha Ezhuthu' and 'Sandakozhi'. Meera is a superstar in all four South Indian film industries.


Mamta Mohandas

Hailing from Kozhikode, Kerala, Mamta debuted in films with 'Mayookham' (2005). Her steamy scenes in 'Lanka', a Malayalam film starring Suresh Gopi, paved way for her Tollywood and Kollywood debuts.

Mamta has many superhits to her credit in Telugu (including 'Homam' and Nagarjuna starrer 'King').


Bhama

Bhama started her film career in 2007 through Nivedyam directed by Lohithadas. Before her entry to film industry, she was doing a matrimonial programme on television titled Thaali.
she debuted with 'Ellam Avan Seyal', which has been declared a superhit.


Ananya

Ananya made her debut with the Malayalam Malayalam film - Positive. Recently she acted with Jayaram in Rahasya Police. She has played a very important role in the Tamil hit Nadodigal. Her debut film in Telugu is 'Amayakudu'.

Ananya is balancing her career between academics and films. In her final year of BA specializing in Journalism, Visual Communication Ananya has a very professional attitude towards films.

Asin
Asin has been the most successful crossover actress from Malayalam. (So far!). She began with 'Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka' in 2001 and hit big time with 'M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi' (2004). Superhits 'Ghajini' and 'Pokkiri' made her a superstar and the Hindi 'Ghajini' has the whole of India singing her peans!


Rima Kallingal

Rima Kallingal was the first runner up to the 2008 Miss Kerala event. A talented professional dancer and above all, she has a great smile.

She has debuted in the malayalam films through the movie 'Rithu' which was directed by Shyamaprasad. Also she is selected for a heroine role in a tamil Movie "Mazhai Vara Mokithu" of lal Jose and that may be her debut movie in Tamil.
